Understanding the Impact of Joint Enterprise and Knife Crime

As part of our Personal Development and Secure Curriculum, pupils in Year 9, Year 10, and Year 11 recently participated in a powerful and thought-provoking session focused on the laws surrounding joint enterprise and the consequences of knife crime.

The session was led by Alison Cope, a nationally recognised anti-knife crime campaigner, who bravely shared her personal story of losing her son to knife crime. Her heartfelt message provided pupils with an emotional insight into the devastating impact such violence has on victims’ families and the wider community.

During this session, all pupils gained a deeper understanding of joint enterprise laws, the importance of staying safe, and how their associations and online presence can have serious consequences. The raw and honest nature of Alison’s story made the risks very real, underscoring the need for thoughtful and informed choices in their daily lives.

This session directly supports our focus on “Securing Your Relationships and Wellbeing,” helping pupils reflect on how to build safer relationships, make better decisions, and understand the broader impact of their actions—both online and offline.
