Year 10 & 11 Football Team Visit St. George's Park
At the end of last half-term, 14 Year 10 and Year 11 students who have represented the Hodge Hill football teams were able to visit the “Home of Football” St George’s Park. This is where all national-level England players train including the International Men’s and Women’s Teams. They were taken on a tour where they saw an exact replica of the Wembley football (this includes the length of each blade of grass!) and other areas where the England teams train such as the “Boot Room.” It was here that our students laced up their boots just like Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling for their 90-minute coaching session with UEFA-qualified coaches. This session challenged our students to create goal-scoring opportunities while continually scanning the pitch to make the best decision. All the students thoroughly enjoyed the session with many commenting how hard they had to work but relished the opportunity to showcase their skill level and meet the challenge set to them. The students finished with a penalty shootout to see who could score the best penalty!
