  • Hodge Hill College Pupil Leaders Support Our Food Bank with Hygiene Kits and Kindness

    Published 25/09/25

Pupil Leaders at Hodge Hill College have been making a big difference in their school community by the school's food bank. In a heartwarming effort to help families in need, the dedicated pupils spent time in school packing and preparing small hygiene kits to be distributed to parents of fellow pupils.

These thoughtful kits, which included essential toiletries, were designed not only to support families but also to promote awareness of the food bank and the vital work it does. The Pupil Leaders personally handed out the kits and engaged warmly with parents, taking time to explain the food bank’s services and encourage those in need to make use of the support available.

Their efforts were met with appreciation from both staff and parents, who recognised the pupils’ maturity, compassion, and commitment to helping others. Mrs Sajed and Miss Reid are very proud of all the Pupil Leaders involved – a massive well done to each of them for representing the school with such kindness and leadership.

  • Food Waste Bins

    Published 10/09/25

We’re pleased to let you know that we are introducing food waste bins across the school. This is part of our ongoing commitment to reducing waste and helping our school become more environmentally friendly and to comply with the new DEFRA regulations.

    What’s changing?

    • We have food waste bins placed in our dining areas
    • Pupils will be encouraged to use these containers for any leftover food or food scraps
    • Packaging and other non-food waste should continue to be disposed of in the appropriate recycling or general waste bins

    How you can help:

    • Please remind your child about the importance of using the correct bins at school
    • Encourage them to think about separating food waste from packaging, both at school and at home

Thank you for your support as we work together to make Hodge Hill College a cleaner and greener place for everyone.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school at enquiry@hodgehill.bham.sch.uk

  • End of Year Reward Trip to Drayton Manor

    Published 10/07/25

On Thursday 10 July, 191 pupils participated in our end-of-year reward trip to Drayton Manor, enjoying a day filled with fun and laughter under beautiful sunshine. Pupils were invited to attend as recognition for reaching the Silver stage or higher on the Secure Curriculum and/or for consistently demonstrating our school’s CARE values by receiving few or no negative referrals.

Throughout the day, pupils explored the park, faced thrilling rides, and spent quality time with their friends—a well-deserved reward for their positive attitudes and commitment throughout the year. One Year 8 pupil said, “It was the best day of the year! I loved being with my friends and going on all the rides.”

Miss Palfrey, the Assistant Headteacher for Enrichment, added, “This trip was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our pupils’ hard work and positive behaviour. They were a real credit to the school.”

We would like to thank all the staff who supported the trip and helped make it such a successful and safe day for everyone involved.

Looking ahead, we aim to make next year’s reward events even bigger and better. In September, we will gather pupil feedback to help shape a reward system that recognises all pupils who consistently do the right thing at the right time. Stay tuned for updates!

  • Summer Fair 2025

    Published 09/07/25

On Wednesday 9 July 9, Hodge Hill College was buzzing with excitement for the school’s highly anticipated Summer Fair. Within just one hour, the fair provided a whirlwind of fun, fundraising, and fantastic energy! To elevate the atmosphere, talented Hodge Hill pupils performed live music, adding a festival vibe to this already electric event.

The fair featured over 10 vibrant stalls that kept the crowds engaged. From the challenge of the balancing lemon game to the competitive excitement of the football challenge, every corner offered something new for pupils to explore. Popular activities like guessing the name of the teddy bear and identifying teachers in their baby photos kept pupils guessing throughout lunch! Treasure map prizes and mystery prizes added an element of surprise for all participants, alongside the thrill of a grand prize. Additionally, small prizes for every game ensured no one left empty-handed.

No fair is complete without delicious treats, and Hodge Hill certainly delivered! A mouth-watering cake sale kept everyone fuelled, the ramen stall was a surprising hit (with every single packet sold out!), and the book sale brought joy to every reader.

What made this event truly special was that it was entirely planned, organised, and run by 30 incredible pupil leaders, demonstrating how much can be achieved with teamwork and determination. In just 60 minutes, this pupil-powered event raised an impressive £320, showcasing what’s possible when young leaders take initiative. A huge congratulations to all involved—your passion, energy, and commitment made this Summer Fair one to remember!
