Personal Development
At Hodge Hill College, Personal Development is delivered through our Secure Curriculum framework. It is a comprehensive educational approach, divided into three main categories:
- Formal 'taught' elements include tutor time and personal development lessons. These are structured, direct instructional components integrated into the regular curriculum.
- Planned and mapped opportunities across all year groups encompass CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance), pupil leadership, extra-curricular activities, and enrichment. These elements are deliberately designed to span all grade levels, providing consistent opportunities for growth and development throughout a student's academic journey.
- 'Soft' opportunities delivered across the full curriculum focus on cultural and creative capital. These are less structured but pervasive elements, woven throughout various subjects and activities, they broaden pupils' perspectives and foster creativity.
This framework suggests a holistic approach to education, balancing formal instruction with planned experiences and informal learning opportunities. It aims to develop well-rounded pupils by addressing academic, personal, and cultural aspects of their education.
