Success on Interview Day: Hodge Hill College Pupils Take Big Steps Toward Post-16 Future
On Wednesday 12 March, Hodge Hill College hosted its annual in-school interview day for 51 Year 11 pupils aspiring to attend Joseph Chamberlain College as their chosen Post-16 provider. Our school has a longstanding association with Joseph Chamberlain College in terms of Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG), and it remains one of the most popular Post-16 choices for our pupils. This popularity is due to the college's wide range of courses, consistent "Good" ratings from Ofsted across multiple inspections, and its great accessibility for pupils in our catchment area.
During the interview day, the 51 students were a credit to the school; each attended their respective interviews on time and in full school uniform. All 51 students received conditional offers from the college, bringing them one step closer to securing their Post-16 placements for the 2025-26 academic year. Now that their interviews are complete, the focus for these pupils must shift to achieving sufficient grades in their upcoming GCSE exams to confirm their places at the college.
While the majority of the pupils have made Joseph Chamberlain College their top choice for Post-16 education, some have selected it as an alternative option. Regardless of whether they opt to attend JCC in September, the interview day provided all participants with essential interview skills that will benefit them in future job interviews.
A core theme of Year 11 provision at Hodge Hill College is aspiration. We consistently strive to be the best school in Birmingham because we believe our pupils deserve nothing less. This includes removing any potential barriers to their future success and making the logistics of the Post-16 experience as seamless as possible. By hosting this event in school, we ensured that disruption to pupils’ learning was minimal at a crucial time before their upcoming exams.
Special thanks go out to all the pupils involved. You have made yourselves and the school immensely proud, and we wish you all the very best for the future.
